Members of The SARS Department of the BAYELSA state police command slapped and harassed Jonathan Jovin the OGUAJA crooner along Saptex road Okaka, in front of Miracle hotel. This was seen trending on social media in the early hours of this morning.
The incident occurred while the artiste and his colleagues where going around to gather support for Idyl Daniel Diongoli that is currently in the voice Nigeria, despite the fact that he introduced himself to them, they threw away his PERFORMING MUSICIANS EMPLOYERS ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA (PMAN) identity card that he brought out to present to them. Artistes and entertainers who are unhappy with the situation used this medium to call on entertainers in the state to stand for their rights and charged well-meaning Bayelsans to condemn the unexceptional harassment received by entertainers in the state.
“We by this are calling on the well-meaning people of BAYELSA, stake holders, Government Officials and the IYC to condemn this act perpetrated by the SARS against entertainers and law-abiding Youths in Bayelsa state.
We should not live in fear of harassment from The Police that are supposed to be protecting Law abiding citizens. Law abiding Youths should not be arrested for going or coming back from the club for doing totally nothing. How can Culture/Entertainment/Tourism grow in Bayelsa when even in broad day light we live in fear of the Police. Police Brutality should be condemned in its Totality!!!!!!!”.
