French defender, Evra has emerged as the first footballer to be sent off at the Europa league before the beginning of a football match. 

Details of what led to Patrice Evra kicking a fan ahead of Marseille’s Europa League encounter against Vitoria Guimaraes on Thursday night have emerged.
 
According to the Telegraph, journalists present at the scene said racist chants and abusive words were directed at the Marseille’s defender.
 
However, the specific insults are still unknown. Evra was sent off before the game, the first ever a player in the Europa League game would get such punishment.
 
Marseille manager, Rudi Garcia, has also confirmed that Evra was targeted for abuse by the fan(s) but slammed his player for reacting how he did.
