Photos From The Ongoing Odemimom Annual Festival Of Otuoke Community Bayelsa

Today marks the beginning of the Odemimom festival done by the people of Otuoke community in Bayelsa state Which is titled Kpokpo or Odemimom (meaning, Juju that eats new thing).

Wrestling match between Progress God-will Benson (aka Anointed Son of Niger delta) vs Eric Ogidi (aka The iron bender)

The festival is done yearly at the last week of October, and it usually lasts for two days.

DAY 1 of the festival Is usually marked by wrestling in the morning hours from 10:00 AM and Beach party in the evening  by 4:00 PM after which is party till dawn.

DAY 2 of the festival Is usually celebrated by the display of the Odemimom  masquerade displayed in the morning, which is accompanied by party in the evening hours,  till dawn.

From an interview, it was discovered that no one truly knows the history or the origin of the festival. But I believe that this mystery can be unraveled, if a proper investigation is done on it,  because every culture, sure has a history/origin and can be traced.

Nevertheless, when our correspondent Gifted Apaebinyo asked, what the festival was all about,  the response gotten was that,  it's all about promoting the culture of the Otuoke people.
