Dancers Too Deserve Recognition – Kaffy

Popular dancer and dance instructor, Kafayat Shafau-Ameh, aka Kaffy, has said that dancers deserve to be recognised for the great feats they
have achieved in the entertainment industry.

Recall that the dancer was recently presented a recognition award at the Headies 2018.

She told Sunday Scoop, “I appreciate the award given to me at Headies. I have always been a motivated and hard-working person but the award would spur me to work even harder.

I am happy that the music industry in Nigeria has continued to grow and you would agree with me that dancers have also contributed a lot to that growth.

You can imagine how a music video
would look if there are no dancers in it.

The music industry is also tied to a vibrant dance culture.

You can imagine how colourful things have been with dance styles such as shaku shaku and shoki.”

Speaking on some of the challenges dancers face in the country, she said, “The major issue is poor remuneration because dancers are poorly paid.

Some people are yet to understand the vital role that dancers play. Also, dancers have to be more professional so that people would
take us seriously.

Some artistes also disrespect
dancers and that is not nice.

If those issues can be dealt with, things would be much better.”
